Karen Fisher, OTR, M.O.T.
Karen Fisher, OTR, M.O.T. is a co-founder of Children’s TheraFun. She has been working with children and families for over 20 years. Karen earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston and then earned her Master of Occupational Therapy degree from Texas Woman’s University Institute of Health Sciences.
Karen works with children of all ages, and all abilities. She started her career with specialty training in working with the zero-three population in early intervention services. She specializes in treating children with Sensory Processing Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit Disorder, Dysgraphia, Developmental Coordination Disorders, Handwriting Difficulties as well as a variety of other motor and learning differences.
Karen has spent time working in many different settings, including hospitals, private practice,school, and home environments. Karen is dedicated to providing children and their families with innovative and individualized therapy to increase participation across all aspects of life. She has received advanced training in the DIR/Floor-time method, Integrated Listening System, Interactive Metronome, and Handwriting Without Tears. Karen has completed the Clinical Training Program with Social Thinking and is excited to be offering social motor groups using the social thinking methodology for children who struggle in a variety of group settings. Karen has her certification in use of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) and has advanced knowledge and training in use of sensory integration therapeutic techniques. Karen is passionate about play as well as her relationships with her clients and their families.
